Ethics and protection of personal data

GBS operates in full compliance with both local and international ethical standards and personal data protection regulations. We rigorously adhere to GDPR principles. All data pertaining to biospecimen donors within the biobank’s database is either pseudonymized or anonymized.

User personal data is collected, processed, and transferred in strict accordance with local data protection laws. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard personal data from accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, damage, alteration, unauthorized access, or disclosure.

Our biospecimen collection is conducted using Informed Consent Forms (ICF) that have received approval from Institutional Review Boards (IRB) or an Independent Ethics Committe.

LEGALITY

Collection, processing and transfer of biospecimens are conducted in compliance with local and international requirements.

ETHICS

All rights and interests of donors involved in our researches are fully protected. The collection of biological samples is carried out only after the donor has been explained his rights and intended use of biospecimens. Biospecimens are collected and transferred to the biobank only after signing of informed consent form by the participant .

TRANSPARENCY

The source of biological materials can always be traced back to the clinical center that supplied them to the biobank. Simultaneously, we assist researchers by furnishing only the necessary clinical data relevant to their studies. Patient’s personal information is securely protected and never disclosed

QUALITY

GBS follows ISBER guidelines and meets ISO 9001 standards. All biospecimens from clinical collaborators are processed according to strict quality protocols, using standardized lab procedures and clinical information management. These tasks are handled by highly trained staff, whose qualifications are regularly reviewed and improved.
